What is the role of knowledge in an uncertain world? A PANEL | GLADFEST 2023

What is the role of knowledge in an uncertain world? A PANEL
Saturday 9th September, 2pm to 3pm

Tickets can no longer be purchased via our website. The remaining in-person tickets can be bought from our Reception and will be available at our on-site box office on September 8th and 9th.

In a change to the advertised schedule, we are inviting a panel of speakers to the stage to share a series of unique voices from the library.

Llyr Williams, Deputy Chair of the Board of Trustees of Gladstone's Library, Jim Creed, Gladstone's Library Development Officer, and Paul Jeorrett, Gladstone's Library volunteer and former University Librarian, will tackle the question: what is the role of knowledge in an uncertain world?

Gladstone's Library was founded more than 130 years ago. In that time, the institution has evolved in ways that its founder William Ewart Gladstone may not have been able to envision, but continues to strive to reflect Gladstone’s vision of 'divine learning'. In this panel discussion, the speakers will consider how this vision of a place that encourages and facilitates learning still has something to contribute to a world facing many challenges. The panel will explore how knowledge, learning and libraries might play a key role in living with uncertainty.

Audience members are invited to contribute to the event by sending questions in advance to [email protected]. All questions will be considered for inclusion. An open Q&A will also take place on the day, if time allows.
