Reformation to Reform: A Masterclass with Writer in Residence Penny Boxall
10am
Produce original work and refine previous drafts using historical material as a guide.
To begin, the class will look at a number of poems written between the English Reformation and the Reform Act. All poems deal, in some way, with the idea of transformation. These will be used as spurs for you to write your own original poem. In the second half of the class, participants will have the chance to rework and ‘reform’ previous poetry drafts.
Penny Boxall’s poetry has appeared in The Sunday Times, The Rialto and Tate Etc. Ship of the Line is Penny’s debut collection of poetry, and follows a wonderful trajectory from a taxidermist’s to a beetle inside her grandfather’s ear. She won the 2016 Edwin Morgan Poetry Award.
Tickets are priced at £35 which includes lunch and tea / coffee.
