The Push and Pull of Receiving Feedback on our Work with N West Moss
Thursday 26th October 2023, 7-8pm
Tickets available from £10. Click to book here.
In this evening talk, writer N. West Moss addresses the thorny topic of feedback. As we know, writers at any stage receive comments on their work, welcomed or not – from writing workshops and helpful early readers, to Amazon and Goodreads review. But what are we to make of all this feedback?
How do we figure out how to embrace feedback without allowing it to cause us to falter and doubt our artistic vision? How can we balance self-confidence in the project with welcoming the views of others? How, in short, do we keep faith in our writing without shutting out the larger world?
West Moss is an award-winning writer and memoirist whose books focus on kindness and generosity of spirit, encouraging us to see writing as a force that bridges divides.
West’s publications includes short fiction including the short story collection The Subway Stops at Bryant Park. Her essays and short stories have appeared in The New York Times and McSweeney’s, among others, and her work is regularly recognised with awards, including a MacDowell fellowship, three William Faulkner-Wilson gold medals, and winning The Great American Fiction Contest from the Saturday Evening Post. West works in New Jersey, where she lives with her husband.
