Friday 19th April from 10am-4pm
Tickets are £65. Two course lunch with tea or filter coffee included. Tickets have sold out. Email [email protected] to be notified of any cancellations.

We'll start by looking at some inspiring poems, both contemporary and classicWe’ll explore what they are like to listen to and to read aloud. From late morning onwards, we'll do some writing, using some quick and enjoyable writing exercises to get the words flowing.

After lunch, weather permitting, we'll hear a few poems in the grounds of Gladstone's Library. The day will finish with some sharing of early drafts of new poems and a short reading by Jonathan Davidson of some of his own work.

Suitable for those who are just starting in poetry or more experienced, this will be an enjoyable day for anyone who has an interest in all aspects of poetry.

Jonathan Davidson is a widely published writer. He has many poetry collections to his name and has also had plays and adaptations broadcast on BBC Radios 3 and 4. He has organised theatre tours of contemporary poetry (with Bloodaxe Books) and regularly runs poetry writing short courses. He has written extensively about the pleasures of experiencing poetry in various locations, as writer and reader but also as listener and speaker. His most recent book - made with the artist Anna Dillon - is Downland (Two Rivers Press, 2024).
