A UNIQUE residential library welcomed former Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg for a recent event.
Gladstone’s Library in Hawarden hosted a talk on Gladstone and the Metaverse in the library’s Victorian Reading Rooms on August 30.
Gladstone’s Library, based in Hawarden, holds three silent Reading Rooms, a large collection of books and archival texts and 26 bedrooms.
Mr Clegg, who now works as vice-president of global affairs and communications at Meta (previously Facebook), gave a talk on the educational potential of artificial intelligence and virtual reality at the sold-out event.
The Revd Dr Andrea Russell, Warden of Gladstone’s Library, thanked Mr Clegg for giving the talk.
She said: “It was a packed event, and we welcomed a large audience in to listen to this fascinating subject.
“We want to thank Mr Clegg for returning to the Library after his visit in 2017. We are also grateful to Murgitroyd & Company for sponsoring the event and Patrick Derham and the Trustees of Gladstone’s Library for making this visit possible.
“It is always wonderful to open the Library up to the wider public, and we welcome every opportunity to facilitate discussions of urgent subjects.”
