The 2025 events calendar at Gladstone’s Library in Flintshire, Hawarden launched on Friday 22nd November.
It includes talks, writing masterclasses and Hearth, our all-day mini literature festival, which you can find here.
The events cover subjects as diverse as writing and health, the first women to attend Oxford university, memoir, narrative poetry, science and art, Islam, and writing about joy.
Louisa Yates, Director of Collections and Research at the Library, said she was excited to share these new events with the Gladstone’s Library community.
“These talks and masterclasses cover a wide range of subjects and styles of writing. We look forward to welcoming attendees whose interest has been piqued by our events programme. If you haven’t been to one of our talks before, we encourage you to dip into our what’s on calendar; everyone is welcome.”
Many of the listed events are led by authors who have come through the Writers in Residence programme.
The Library events calendar is updated on a rolling basis. Residential courses, public lectures and other events will be added to the list soon.
Previous events have included poetry walks, history learning days, storytelling and more.
Andrea Russell, Warden of Gladstone’s Library, said: “The events programme is a big part of what we do here. It’s a delight to be able to showcase our Writers in Residence and the subjects they are passionate about, and it’s lovely to welcome back our loyal audience and meet newcomers to the Library.
“I’m not the only person who has attended a talk and found a new author to follow!”
The calendar also includes the return of Glimpses, mini-tours which include a talk with a member of the Reading Rooms team and a look around the Reading Rooms, which are normally open only to people with Reader or Researcher cards or guests staying overnight at the Library.
Event tickets vary in price and start from £6.50 per person.
