A roaring fire, home-cooked mince pies and a gloriously dressed Christmas tree taking pride of place in the common room?
Christmas is coming to Gladstone’s Library!
We begin our seasonal events on Sunday, 11th December with free entry to our popular Christmas Craft Fair (10.30am – 4pm). Stalls from well-loved local crafters will be bursting at the seams with gifts and treats and the Library’s very own bookstore Gladbooks will be stocking a range of books for all ages
From Thursday, 1st December until Sunday, 18th December, enjoy Christmas Lunch served in our beautiful bistro 12pm – 2pm. Choose two (£15.00) or three courses (£18.00) from our tasty menu including spiced parsnip soup, honey roast gammon, roast saddle of turkey with all the trimmings, butternut squash and goat’s cheese pithivier and traditional Christmas pudding. Fancy something a little lighter? Drop in and try a delicious roast turkey, cranberry and stuffing panini (£4.95). To view our full menu, please click here.
Throughout December, we’re also serving a special sweet or savoury Christmas Afternoon Tea with mince pies and a seasonal glass of Prosecco (£12.00)!
Christmas Lunch and Afternoon Tea must be booked in advance by calling 01244 532350 or emailing [email protected].
The year’s calendar of residential events is drawn to a close with our Film and Theology course 6th – 8th December which includes screenings of The Lady in the Van, 45 Years, Spotlight, Carol and Mad Max: Fury Road.
We also have a selection of gifts for sale in our shop including Gladstone quote notecards and gift vouchers for the value of £5, £10, £20 and £50. These can be used in our Food for Thought bistro for lunch or Afternoon Tea; for tickets to our events and courses including Hearth, Gladfest and our new political festival, Demfest; or they can be used to pay for accommodation, so why not treat a friend to a stay here?
Sick of trailing round hectic high street shops to purchase expensive material goods? Why not give the gift of Friendship this Christmas? More information here.
PLUS, if you’re considering a cosy winter getaway, you can bring a friend to stay for free on rooms 1st November – 31st January. Book a double or a twin room and only pay for a single one! Please quote 'FRIEND16E' for the ensuite room offer or 'FRIEND16S' for the standard room offer. For more information, please click here.
