Access for Readers aged 16-17

Re-opening of access for 16 and 17 year old Readers from Monday 14th April 2025

Firstly, a big thank-you to everyone who’s patiently waited during the Library’s short period of limited access. We’re very glad to say that we’ll be able to welcome back Readers aged 16 and 17 from Monday 14th April 2025.

Whether you are joining for the first time, or restarting an existing Reader card, the process is the same:

  • If you’re restarting, please bring your existing Reader card with you.
  • When you come to join or restart, please bring a parent or guardian with you.
  • The person who is joining will complete a Reader form, and show two forms of ID.
  • The parent or guardian will complete a supplementary form, and show two forms of ID.
  • We ask for a piece of photographic ID that proves who you are, and a second form that proves your address. If you have a driving license, we can accept that for both photo and address.
  • Please note that although we can accept e-originals (for example a statement from your banking app) we cannot accept photocopies or pictures of ID.
  • Your Reader card is valid for one year. If you are still under 18 when the time comes to renew, you will need to bring your parent or guardian with you then. Once you’re over 18, you can renew by yourself.

If you’ve got any questions, please drop the Reading Room team a line on [email protected]. We look forward to welcoming you back!

Please remember the Reading Rooms have had new opening hours for Readers since January 2025: 9am-5pm every day. If you’d like to know more, see this post: https://www.gladstoneslibrary.org/news/opening-hours-from-january-2025/g
